On the night of May 21, the final duel at the clay tournament of the WTA 1000 series in Rome (Italy) took place between the Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina (WTA 47) and the representative of Kazakhstan Elena Rybakina (WTA 6).
Unfortunately, the Ukrainian was unable to continue the fight after losing the first set. Angelina took a medical time-out and withdrew from the game. The reason is an injury to the left leg.
On the way to the final, Kalinina defeated Anna Blinkova, Sofia Kenin, Madison Keys, Beatrice Haddad Maya and Veronika Kudermetova.
26-year-old Angelina Kalinina played in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament for the first time and fought for the title at the WTA level for the second time in her career. In 2021, the Ukrainian lost in the decisive match at the WTA 250 competition in Budapest.
