Perfect World – one of the longest-lived modern MMOs. “Chinese WoW”, as it is often called, is celebrating its 18th birthday this year. But her mobile successor is much younger, but certainly not worse. Actually, it was thanks to her that I began to treat MMOs for smartphones with at least interest. I tell you why.
1. Epic
Fans of Asian games will understand me. Everything here feels epic from the very beginning: from boss battles to trivial things like taming horses. The bonus is an excellent picture by mobile standards, a large open world and a heap of special effects that crumble for any reason.
At the same time, it’s not about ultra-modern graphics: in terms of technical bells and whistles Perfect World Mobile still inferior to fashionable projects on Unreal Engine 5. The main feature here is in the excellent art and level design. Everything is worked out in detail, so you don’t pay attention to the lack of polygons (especially on a small smartphone screen).
2. So much localization
Full translation into Russian, including voice acting, an MMO thing, of course, optional, but extremely pleasant. The actors play decently – except that the main character is deprived of a voice for some reason … however, this is a misfortune of almost all role-playing games. But the texts look quite literary – it’s nice to dive into the world of Pan Gu. Unless larger fonts would definitely not interfere.
3. Minimum routine
Episodic automation is a very handy thing: it will allow you to run to the quest mob, aim at the enemy and help you fight him. However, there is no full autoboy here, it’s still not an Idle-stupid game that plays itself. You have to choose skills and dodge enemy attacks with your hands, and during boss fights, PvE raids, and especially PvP, you also need to turn on your head.
4. Optional donation
Describing the financial model of Asian MMORPGs is a thankless task. Therefore, I will only say that the game is free, there are no subscriptions and battle passes here, there are no “kill all” buttons either. Cosmetics and power-ups can be taken for real money… or you can not take it – at first, figure out what’s what, it’s quite real and free. And then decide for yourself whether to pay or not. Personally, I’m still comfortable without donations.
5. Great place to make friends
At level 20, dungeons and guilds are opened – the very thing for communication, finding like-minded people and other social interaction. Perfect World Mobile has enough opportunities for PvP (from arenas to wars for territories), and for collective PvE like battles with world bosses. You do not want to communicate? No need. A company for dungeons or quests will be selected automatically. You can even find your love, have a Chinese wedding, and then do pair tasks with your soulmate. In general, mobile Perfect World I liked it just as much as the desktop one. So much so that I even started to complete daily quests, which I did not suffer from, it seems, in any MMO. So I advise you to try it too. Go ahead – and see you on the streets of the Dragon City!
