This week, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Thanks to “PlayStation Game Sizes” we already know how much free memory should be reserved for the stealth adventure.
After several postponements, the stealth adventure “The Lord of the Rings: Gollum” developed by the Hamburg developer studio Daedalic Entertainment will be released for consoles and PC at the end of the week.
Thanks to the information from “PlayStation Game Size” we know just before the release how much free space needs to be reserved on the PlayStation consoles. On PlayStation 4, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum occupies 30.51 gigabytes, while PlayStation 5 players benefit from effective Kraken compression technology.
So only 18.66 gigabytes of free memory needs to be provided on Sony’s current console. Possible updates would be added in case of doubt.
Experience Gollum from a new perspective
The story of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum takes place in the same world as the TV series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power produced by Amazon Studios. You take control of the eponymous character and former hobbit Smeagol, who has been seduced by the Ring of Power and gradually transformed into the wily creature Gollum.
In the new work from Daedalic Entertainment, we are given the opportunity for the first time to slip into the role of Gollum and experience the tragic fate of the protagonist from a whole new angle. Since Gollum is a physically rather weak character, you primarily rely on his stealth abilities and try to move through the game world as unobtrusively as possible.
“Gollum is skilled and cunning, but also plagued by his split personality. So it’s up to the fans to decide if the dark side of Gollum will prevail or if there’s still a glimmer of sanity in what Sméagol once was.”

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released on Thursday, May 25, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. An implementation for Nintendo’s Switch is also in development and will follow at a later date.
Pre-orders on PlayStation consoles can download the game starting tomorrow Tuesday to get started in time for release.
