Battlefield 2042 update: developers announce QoL improvements
A little bit about Season 5 was also revealed in the Battlefield Inside podcast. For example, the equipment on the vehicles is to be adjusted. DICE will change weapon configurations and explosives will no longer be available for all vehicles:
The LATV4 scout will no longer have explosives, it will have anti-aircraft guns. Transport helicopters will lose all explosive weapons. The EBAA Wildcat will have its own category and upgraded AA guns Flak may show up on other maps as well.Gunners can detect thermal signatures as a secondary element; instead of variable zoom. The driver loses his ability to perceive thermal signatures. Jets get rocket pods. The camera is said to be less squishy and more responsive. The M5C Bolte gets the Incendary Launcher instead of Incendary Mines, loses 30mm but gets 50mm and Detect Pulse.
DICE says the M5C Bolte’s driver can no longer be killed through the glass to make the vehicle feel like a “viable option and less uncomfortable for Soldier players”. Currently, “it just doesn’t feel like a heavy vehicle. That’s what leads to the pretty low pick rate.”
