Embracer Group has announced that Dead Island 2 has totaled over two million units shipped since its launch on April 21st. In its first three days on the market, the game sold one million copies worldwide, the culmination of a nine-year wait.
Dead Island 2 has become the best launch ever in the history of Deep Silver and Plaion as regards the number of units sold at launch and revenues, testifying to the hype generated by the sequel to one of the most acclaimed games of the early 10s.
Lars Wingefors, co-founder and CEO of Embracer Group, he said he was extremely satisfied with the results achievedthe decision to entrust the project to Dambuster Studios and to provide the team with all the time necessary for the polishing phases has paid off for the company.
The team will continue to support Dead Island 2 with free updates and premium content with the aim of increasing sales and providing new content to players. It’s probably still too early to talk about a sequel but who knows if Dambuster hasn’t already started preliminary work on Dead Island 3 considering the good numbers obtained with the second episode one month after its launch.
