Sony has released more details about PlayStation Plus and revealed how the share of Extra and Premium tiers is developing.
PlayStation Plus started last year in the three-tier program, which consists of Essential, Extra and Premium. As part of the recent Business Segment Meeting, Sony released information that gives a glimpse of the distribution of memberships.
The Declarations According to Sony, the top tier has exactly eight million members, accounting for 17 percent of all subscribers, while PS Plus Extra attracted 6.1 million users in March 2023, accounting for 13 percent of all members. This makes Premium more successful than Extra, which can not least be justified by the price.
While PS Plus Essential costs around 60 euros, PS Plus Extra costs around 100 euros. For a further surcharge of only 20 euros, you can already subscribe to PS Plus Premium for one year.
30 percent upgraded
Overall, 30 percent of regular PS Plus subscribers have upgraded to one of the more expensive options, according to Sony, with Sony’s latest membership count over the past month was 47.4 million. The chart below shows how membership growth occurred at the higher-priced tiers.
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium offer a few advantages over the Essential membership. This includes the games catalog with hundreds of games that subscribers can access at no additional cost. In addition, there are the Ubisoft+ Classics. From the premium level, the catalog of classics, the trial versions of games and cloud streaming are added.
