filming of the second season of The House of the Dragon began last month, about which it was already announced that it would have fewer episodes than originally planned in order to expand the story even more with a few seasons. As it already happened in Game of Thrones, the plot is full of love affairs, betrayals and many deaths, including those of some main characters. Undoubtedly, the most shocking moment of all was the one that left us the last chapter of the first season, when Lucerys Velaryon, the second son of Rhaenyra Targaryen, meets Aemond Targaryen.
At that moment, a chase begins in the air while both are on the back of Arrax and Vhagar, their respective dragons. Unfortunately, the latter is too gigantic and powerful, to the point that with his jaw he manages to devour Rhaenyra’s son in an instant and in turn makes mincemeat to his dragon with a single bite.
The scene is truly horrifying and provokes Rhaenyra’s fury when she finds out what has happened, anticipating that a bloody war is coming. However, the actor who has given life to Luke, Elliot Grihault, made an appearance at an event held in England where he was asked if there was a possibility that his character had survived the massacre. The funny thing is that He has admitted that he tried to make it that way.

In any case, it wouldn’t make any sense to reverse Luke’s death considering that It is precisely the trigger for the war that will be waged between Rhaenyra and the Greens in the next few chapters. Likewise, this is just what happens also in the books written by George RR Martin in order to maintain a faithful adaptation.
While it is true that neither the books nor the series itself makes it completely clear that Luke has died after not finding his body, it would be strange to think that someone could survive Vhagar’s attack and such a fall from the sky in the middle of the sea. Be that as it may, the date of the second season of the house of the dragon it is still on the air and the only thing that is expected is that it will premiere sometime in the summer of 2024.
