Tonight, THQ Nordic made a presentation dedicated to the reboot of the horror series Alone in the Dark. As part of a small stream, the developers showed that the release of the new project should take place on October 25 of this year. The authors also introduced us to the main characters and actors who gave them their appearance and voice.
You know these real actors well: Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve”, “The Protagonist”) and David Harbor (“Very Stranger Things”, “Black Widow”). During the presentation, the developers from the Pieces Interactive studio said that in terms of atmosphere, their upcoming brainchild will in many ways resemble the classic Alone in the Dark.
The game will allow you to go through the story campaign for one of the two heroes. The authors claim that their stories will be unique in many ways, so to understand everything that happens, you will need to study the game twice.
Alone in the Dark tells the story of Emily Hartwood and Detective Edward Carnby, who come to Derceto Manor to search for the truth about the disappearance of the main character’s uncle. In terms of gameplay, everything is quite expected: exploring the world, fighting monsters, solving puzzles and revealing the secrets of the Derceto estate.
Along the way, players will encounter the mysterious inhabitants of Derceto Manor, an asylum for the mentally ill, where something strange is happening. Without revealing a conspiracy of evil, notes of madness and other atmospheric and typical things for horror, things will not work either.
“At the intersection of reality, mystery and madness, an adventure awaits you that will challenge everything you know about yourself. Who can you trust, what will you believe in and what will you do next? Play as Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, explore the world around you, fight monsters, solve puzzles and unravel the mysteries of Derceto Manor…” reads the official description of Alone in the Dark.
The script for the reboot of Alone in the Dark was written by Mikael Hedberg, a writer who had a hand in the horror SOMA and Amnesia. The authors also assured that the dark doom-jazz soundtrack will give everyone goosebumps. Also, a demo version is already available on all target platforms, in which the main character is 11-year-old girl Grace Saunders.
