Head of promotional company Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn shared his opinion on the result of the fight for the title of absolute world champion in lightweight between Vasily Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) and Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs).
“We need to show respect to Haney. You called him the email champ when Loma didn’t fight him or Top Rank wouldn’t let him fight him. He went to Australia and beat Kambosos twice, defeated Lomachenko. No matter how you look at it, it’s a close fight. It was a fight between two elite lightweights and I was happy to see Devin win,” Hearn told the Boxing News YouTube channel.
Note that on the night of May 20-21, Haney defeated Lomachenko in Las Vegas on points (116-112, 115-113, 115-113) and retained all his belts.
