PlayStation Showcase 2023: 10 Big Games to Look Forward to

, Bandung – Finally Sony held the PlayStation Showcase this year. After previously only holding State of Play last summer, Sony is now finally unveiling a large lineup of games that will be coming on PlayStation 5. Starting from new game titles from PlayStation Studios to even third-party developers.
Overall, there are a total of 29 titles (excluding PSVR2 games) that were revealed at the PlayStation Showcase 2023. However, Gamefinity has selected 10 game titles that are certainly worth looking forward to. Here are 10 games that were announced at the PlayStation Showcase 2023 which are worth looking forward to, listed in order of their respective appearances.
Helldivers II
Unexpectedly, Arrowhead Studios has revealed the sequel to Helldivers, namely Helldivers II. Different from its predecessor which is a top down shooter, Helldivers II is a third person shooter. The good news is, this game still retains various elements from the previous game, including the setting.
The game is set in Super Earth and players take on the role of a citizen who joins a team of commandos. They are assigned to fight aliens in every futuristic battle. The trailer that was revealed is reminiscent of the movie Starship Troopers, especially in its opening scene.
Helldivers II will release on PC and PlayStation 5 in 2023 and has no exact date yet.
Immortals of Aveum
Ascendant Studios and Electronic Arts released the latest trailer for Immortals of Aveum. Unlike most FPS games, players will use magic powers to fight enemies.
The trailer shows full gameplay with fast paced and fluid combat when the main character fights against rows of creatures using magic. Players will later face a row of bosses and battlemages who are also enemies.
Immortals of Aveum will release July 20, 2023 on PlayStation 5.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater
After Konami announced Silent Hill 2 remake, fans are hoping that Metal Gear Solid will be the next game to get a remake. Even before, there were rumors that Metal Gear Solid 3 was confirmed to be getting a remake. Now the PlayStation Showcase 2023 is witnessing the realization of this rumor. Konami has finally officially announced Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater.
Konami promised in its press release that Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater will be a faithful remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The reveal trailer for the remake shows a forest full of various creatures before showing Snake himself as the predator.
Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater will be released on PlayStation 5. Meanwhile, Konami also announced Metal Gear Solid master Collection Vol. 1 which contains the first three classic games and is due for a fall 2023 release on the PlayStation 5.
Final Fantasy XVI
Just a few days before the release, Square Enix revealed the launch trailer for Final Fantasy XVI entitled Salvation. The trailer gives a deeper look into the story along with the dominant cast of characters.
In the trailer, players witness a row of Dominant characters along with the use of each ability. Not only that, Mothercrystals was also shown to be detrimental to its users instead of being useful.
Final Fantasy XVI will release exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023. Before the official launch, a demo will be released.

Alan Wake 2
After a long wait, Alan Wake 2 has finally revealed the gameplay trailer as well as the official release date. As is well known, the sequel to Alan Wake switches genres to survival horror while retaining action adventure elements.
This game remains focused on horror genre writer, Alan Wake. Alan Wake is not the only protagonist, he will be accompanied by Saga Anderson who is the second playable character. At the end of the trailer at PlayStation Showcase 2023, Anderson is seen finding Wake and asking him his name. The reason is, Wake is cheered to have disappeared for the last 13 years.
Alan Wake II will launch on PlayStation 5 on October 17, 2023.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Ubisoft took advantage of the PlayStation Showcase 2023 to show off the latest trailer as well as the first gameplay footage of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Mirage will be the return of the Assassin’s Creed franchise to the stealth genre.
Apart from showing Basim’s actions as the main character in the Middle East, Ubisoft also showcased parkour elements that look amazing in the trailer, for example the freerunning mechanic looks very fluid. Every element in the trailer reminds fans of the first Assassin’s Creed game, with an example of this being the scene where Basim jumps from a rooftop and attacks enemies with a knife.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released October 12, 2023 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink
After a long wait, Cygames finally provides the latest information about Granblue Fantasy: Relink. First announced in 2016, this game made by Cygames often experiences delays. Surprisingly, Granblue Fantasy: Relink also appeared at the 2023 PlayStation Showcase.
This time, the latest trailer shows the unique abilities of several characters in the game. Not only that, the characters Zeta and Vaseraga also appear and are added to the available character roster.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink will release winter 2023 globally on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Cygames confirmed that more information will be announced this summer.

Dragon’s Dogma 2
After the initial announcement last summer, Capcom finally released the first trailer for Dragon’s Dogma 2 during the PlayStation Showcase 2023. Amazingly, the trailer shows the world of the game, a series of monsters such as dragons, several other characters, and various combat scenes.
Dragon’s Dogma may not be as big as other Capcom game franchises such as Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Monster Hunter. At least, this game still has many loyal fans even though it is considered less successful in the international market.
Unfortunately, Capcom hasn’t revealed the exact release schedule for Dragon’s Dogma 2. The good news is that this RPG game will be available on PlayStation 5.

Marathon
Many fans know Bungie as the creators of the Halo and Destiny franchises. However, it seems that not many of them know that the Destiny 2 developer is also developing the Marathon franchise, another FPS game that last released a new entry in 1996.
That’s right, Bungie announced the Marathon reboot during PlayStation Showcase 2023 as a sci-fi PvP extraction game. Marathon will see players fighting each other as Runners, cybernetic soldiers, as well as exploring the colonies on the planet Tau Ceti IV for wealth and fame.
Marathon will be released on PlayStation 5 and PC while providing cross-play and cross-save features.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
After waiting full of expectations from fans, finally Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 appeared as the cover for the PlayStation Showcase 2023. The last time Insomniac Games showed the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man was during the PlayStation Showcase 2021. No half-hearted, they showed ten minutes of gameplay footage, including a sneak peek of one of his villains, Kraven the Hunter.
In the gameplay footage, it is told that Kraven and his men are targeting Kurt Conners aka Lizard. You can see the actions of Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and Miles Morales trying to stop Kraven’s efforts while protecting Conners. What’s different is that Parker is wearing a Symbiote costume and looks very angry. The trailer shows that players can switch between the two main characters during gameplay.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 in fall 2023.

Apart from the ten major games, there are at least four game titles that have also stolen the attention. First, Fairgame$, the first game from Haven Studios, a developer owned by PlayStation Studios. This game is a competitive heist game about robbing the rich. No further details have been explained at this time. Fairgame$ will release on PlayStation 5 and PC in 2024.
Street Fighter 6 is also just waiting a few days before the official launch. Capcom has released a new trailer showing story mode or World Tour. Street Fighter 6 will launch on PlayStation 5 on June 2, 2023.
Bungie also showed off a sneak peek of Destiny 2’s next expansion, The Final Shape. This expansion is also the end of The Light and Darkness Saga. Bungie will reveal more details about Destiny 2: The Final Shape at the Destiny Showcase on August 22, 2023.
Concord is the first game from Firewalk Studios, the studio that recently became the newest member of PlayStation Studio. The game takes the sci-fi PvP first-person shooter genre and will launch on PlayStation 5 and PC in 2024.
