Daedalic Entertainment released The Lord of the Rings: Gollum this week. We can say that the release turned out to be far from the most successful – the game confidently took a place in the TOP projects with the lowest rating from critics in 2023, at the time of writing this article, the game’s rating on Opencritic is at 42 points out of 100.
There have been rumors that Daedalic may be working on another game in the Lord of the Rings universe. What kind of project this is is unknown, but the developers received a subsidy from the German government for it. The description of the project on the website of the Federal Ministry of Economics states the following:
Daedalic is working on a new project that will take the player into a lush world full of mythical creatures and magic. It tells the story from a character’s point of view that has never been told before. The player unlocks completely new regions and influences events in the world within their role and their abilities. He is trying in his own way to influence the course of things and change the fate of the world. This project is aimed at avid fans of fantasy genres and adventure 3D action games from all over the world.
It is indicated that subsidies to the project amounted to more than 2 million euros, and August 2024 is listed as the release window for this game.
