AMD has acknowledged that some 6+2 power cables may not be compatible with the 8-pin connector on reference Radeon RX 7600 graphics cards due to the design of the graphics card, as well as protruding elements on the power connectors themselves. This was reported by the TechPowerUp portal, which turned to AMD for comment.

As mentioned earlier, the specified incompatibility with the power connector of the Radeon RX 7600 video card in the reference version was found only in some power cables. It turned out that 6 + 2-pin connectors cannot be tightly inserted into the 8-pin connector located on the video card, due to the design features of the card.
The reinforcing rear plate of the video card in the place of the power connector protrudes strongly forward, preventing the cable connector from being tightly installed. The problem only occurs with some 6+2 cables and does not occur with monolithic 8-pin cables, since the latter do not have any additional notches in the part of the connector where the two additional pins are located. It is important to clarify that non-reference versions of the Radeon RX 7600 from AMD partners do not have this cable compatibility issue.
AMD said that the final version of the reference Radeon RX 7600 will eliminate all these shortcomings. Recall that the reference version of this video card model is not yet available for sale. In reviews, the pre-production version of the video card should be used.
“We are very pleased with the amount of available non-reference versions of the Radeon RX 7600 from our partners. We expect the reference version of the Radeon RX 7600, which will go on sale in the coming weeks, to address compatibility issues and allow all kinds of power cables to be used with the card,” AMD commented.
The TechPowerUp portal notes that none of AMD’s partners have yet created pages with reference versions of the Radeon RX 7600 video card on their official websites. This may indicate that AMD has given its partners time to prepare updated versions of the accelerator, which will Fixed compatibility issue with power cables. Recall that unlike NVIDIA, which independently sells the reference versions of its Founders Edition video cards, AMD allows its partners, along with non-reference accelerator options, to also sell AMD reference video cards with minimal cosmetic changes, mainly related to product packaging and stickers on video cards.
