Consoles that run games on their own can hold a charge for about the same amount.
The PlayStation Project Q handheld console only lasts 3-4 hours on battery, according to insider Tom Henderson. It was Henderson who was the first to talk about the creation of such a device; he probably knows what he’s talking about.
Project Q is designed for streaming: the console connects to the PlayStation 5 and acts as a thin client, it does not run games itself. The designated time of work surprised the insider.
Perhaps the short run time is due to the fact that Project Q is a stretched DualSense gamepad into which a screen is inserted. The DualSense battery doesn’t last too long either, and the console also needs to power the 8-inch display.
It is worth noting that portable consoles like Steam Deck can hold a charge either as much as Project Q or more – depending on the settings. At the same time, games are fully launched on such consoles.
According to Henderson, a full presentation of Project Q will take place in the near future. The start of sales, according to an insider, is scheduled for the middle or end of November 2023.
