Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have three separate skill trees, one each for Peter Parker and Miles Morales, and a third for general abilities.
Aaron Jason Espinoza, Senior Community Manager at Insomniac Games, talked about how Peter and Miles’ skills will improve in the upcoming sequel. According to the developer, both characters have their own separate skill trees for abilities that are unique to them, as well as one in common.
Between Peter’s new symbiont powers and Miles’ newfound blue bioelectric power, each Spider-Man has his own unique set of skills that can be upgraded with an all-new custom skill tree. Our heroes share technology and train together, so we’ve also included a shared skill tree that offers parallel upgrades for both.
While Marvel’s Spider-Man was mostly about Peter Parker and Miles was the focus in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the upcoming game is a story about two spiders.
You will seamlessly switch between both at various story points. We want players to enjoy iconic team fights, enhanced with our signature moments, and experience the story from every Spider-Man’s point of view.
All this emphasis on co-op has led some fans to speculate that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be co-op, but Insomniac never announced it, and the developer recently tweeted to reiterate that the game is an “epic single-player adventure.”
