At the end of May, it became known that along with update 3.8, the first oceanid in human form will appear in Genshin Impact – the character will be called Idia. Now it turned out that the character has two forms at once: a man and an oceanid.
An insider of Team China has published a video with the transformation of a girl from a human into an oceanid. Apparently, the transformation takes place as part of one of the cutscenes of the update, we do not yet know what role it plays in the plot.
Before the Oceanids were hostile creatures, Li Yue even has a boss that looks exactly like Idia’s aquatic form. It can be assumed that this time it will be possible to find a common language with the Oceanids.
According to the most common fan theory, the Oceanids may play some role in the storyline of Fontaine, the new region of Genshin Impact from update 4.0. Fontaine is a hydro realm, and the oceanides just consist of a hydro element.
Update 3.8 will be released on July 5th.
