CEO of Shakhtar Donetsk Sergey Palkin spoke about the emotions after receiving the team’s championship title in the 2022/23 season:
“First of all, I want to congratulate our fans, the president of our club, the coaching staff, the players, the club’s management, the employees, because this is a very important victory, a very important championship. A historic championship, a historic victory, because it was won during a full-scale war. Because it is very important for us.
This championship, this victory will be remembered, I think, for years. Why is it still important: if you remember how it all started, when there was no coaching staff, when all foreign players left the club, we started building the team from scratch – and we built it.
Remember how bright our European Cup journey was: we got third place in the Champions League group, knocked out Rennes in the Europa League, and in general – we played very well, showing such beautiful football that the fans like. Therefore, for me this is one of the most important championships of our club. And once again I want to congratulate everyone! And emotions – they go off scale!
This championship will be the most memorable for me too. I just talked with the players, with Igor Jovicevich, that this is history for us. Indeed, in such times, winning the championship is worth a lot and it is dear to the heart. Therefore, I want to congratulate everyone on this championship, and especially our fans!”
