Lo smash hit launch of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom allows Eiji Aonuma’s open-world masterpiece to break the Guinness World Record for fastest-selling Nintendo video game in history!
This was announced by the editors of the almanac which annually collects all the world records and updates us on the latest news: the official blog of Guinness World Records informs us that the ten million copies sold by Zelda TOTK in the first three days allowed to the new exclusive Switch to become the record holder of the fastest selling Nintendo video game in the history of the Kyoto house.
The sequel to Breath of the Wild surpasses that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and its 12.08 million copies sold in 24 days. It goes without saying that the Tears of the Kingdom record also applies, in full, to the entire The Legend of Zelda series, snatching a record that had stood since 2011 with launch sales recorded by Zelda Skyward Sword.
