The Mortal Kombat franchise is known for its violence, so it was to be expected that the cast would live up to the brutality demanded by the series. However, the production team decided bet on some special guests, like DLC charactersand the combination worked very well in the eyes of the community.
In this way, let’s remember seven famous characters – whether from other games or from the movies – who made special appearances in Mortal Kombat and ended up bringing a good mix to the clashes.
1. Freddy Kruegger (Mortal Kombat)
Freddy Kruegger became famous in theaters after tormenting the dreams of teenagers in the series Nightmare on Elm Street. However, he decided to take a break from these actions to fight with “people his size”, in Mortal Kombat released in 2011.
It’s true that he needed some tweaks to his look to get closer to the style seen in the other characters, but that didn’t make him any less dangerous – on the contrary! His iconic claws are present in virtually every move, and even his fatalities make reference to some moments seen in the movies.
2. Joker (Mortal Kombat 11)
Joker is a character that needs no introduction, after all, the clown is a villain so beloved by fans that he even starred in his own movie. Therefore, it was to be expected that the psychotic nature would make him an assertive choice of additional character for Mortal Kombat.
One of the advantages of the franchise’s games having a higher age rating is the possibility of having a really violent Joker in the game, using weapons to hit opponents – either in their conventional blows or fatalities. And, by the way, there is variety: knives, toy weapons and hammer are just some of the artifacts used by the Clown Prince of Crime in combat.
3. Predator (Mortal Kombat 10)
Here’s more character coming straight from the theaters to the mortal combat universe. And we must admit, it ended up pleasing several people who decided to invest in buying the package that included it in the game.
The character was inspired by the version seen in the first film, which is precisely the most famous of all – which also helped with the fact that he did not need any kind of adjustment to his look. He also used several of his technologies against opponents, making him ready to fight anyone who got in his way.
4. Jason Voorhess (Mortal Kombat 10)
If the producers decided to invite Freddy Kruegger to participate in the violent confrontations, nothing fairer than also giving Jason Voorhess, the protagonist of the Friday the 13th franchise, a chance.
Using his hockey mask and the famous machete to attack his opponents, Jason didn’t play around on duty when participating in the clashes in this classic fighting game franchise. The weapon, by the way, is responsible for the best movements of the character and even a fatality that looks a lot like things seen in the movies.
5. Kratos (Mortal Kombat)
The God of War franchise is exclusive to Sony consoles, so Kratos was restricted to the editions of Mortal Kombat that arrived on PlayStation consoles. However, those who had the opportunity to see him in action realized that the violence featured in his titles was not left aside in the fighting game.
Being a character who already had brutality in his blood, it wasn’t necessary to adapt much to the transport Kratos to the universe of the fighting series. Just seeing that the Blades of Chaos and other weapons are commonly used around here to realize that he was a clear choice as an additional combatant.
6. Terminator (Mortal Kombat 11)
This iconic character from the franchise of the same name came to life on the big screen when played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and it is exactly the actor’s look that was transported to the game. But unfortunately, in the original the same cannot be said about the voice.
The killing machine came to the fights bringing several of the weapons that we had the opportunity to see in the movies, and even one of its fatalities is related to what was presented in its film franchise. In one of these moves, the loser is sent into the future and dies at the hands of a Terminator.
7. Spawn (Mortal Kombat 11)
Let’s close our list with a guest coming directly from the comics: Spawn, created by Todd McFarlane and who perfectly matches the proposal seen in Mortal Kombat.
The Soldier of Hell is capable of utilizing a good variety of moves in combat, including firearms and his cape. Even the Necroplasma substance is present here, and is even seen in one of his fatalities.
