With three awards in the third place in the medal standings, the Ukrainian team finished the European Youth Fencing Championship, which took place on May 23-27 in the capital of Hungary, Budapest.
The foil fencer Olga Sopit became the author of the historical achievement in Budapest. Her gold became the first medal of our country in this form at the U-23 European Championships. Then Olga Sopit, Alina Polozyuk, Kristina Petrova and Daria Mironyuk became silver medalists in the team championship in foil fencing.
Being one of the youngest participants in the competition, 15-year-old Emily Konrad became the highest step of the podium in the individual epee championship.
The Ukrainian team repeated its best result at the continental youth championships in terms of the number of awards, having won three medals for the first time since Bratislava-2012.
Thus, Ukraine showed its best result and entered the top three medal standings of the U-23 European Championship.
