The Ukrainian team won five awards at the tournament Upper Austria Grand Prix 2023 in Austrian Linz.
The fifth award, coming down to the third place of the podium in the weight up to 78 kg, brought to the piggy bank Elizabeth Litvinenko.
Having lost in the semifinals to the vice-champion of the Olympic Games in Tokyo and the 2019 world champion Madeleine Malonga from France, the 19-year-old judoka from Dnipro in the fight for bronze with a spectacular “ippon” in the first minute of the “golden score” defeated the Japanese Mizuki Sugimura.
Another Ukrainian representative in this weight category stopped a step away from the podium Yulia Kurchenko.
For Litvinenko, who is a bronze medalist at the 2022 World Championships, this is the second medal in her career at the IJF Grand Prix series tournaments.
