It became known that Microsoft plans to stop support for the Cortana voice assistant in Windows. The software giant said in a statement that Cortana will not be supported on Windows as a standalone application starting later this year.

The announcement of the end of support for Cortana is hardly a surprise. In May of this year, Microsoft announced a tool called Windows Copilot, which is a complete AI assistant. According to available data, it will be placed in the sidebar of Windows 11 and will be available to call in the process of working with any applications. With it, users will be able to perform various tasks, including the generation of text messages.
Obviously, Windows Copilot should replace Cortana, which has not become a popular product among users. Recall that the Cortana voice assistant for Windows 10 was introduced in 2015. At that time, it could be used to set reminders, launch applications, and perform other actions through voice commands. While support for Cortana on Windows will end this year, the voice assistant will continue to be available in Outlook Mobile, Microsoft Teams Mobile, and some other company products.
