Portable gaming consoles are slowly but surely taking over the market. The first device that achieved impressive results in this direction was the Nintendo Switch portable console, after which the Steam Deck portable console was introduced.
And now, according to insider information, Qualcomm has begun negotiations with various industry giants, suggesting that they also want to release their next generation portable console. And this console, as conceived by Qualcomm, will run on the manufacturer’s own processor – this is exactly what the negotiations are about now.
Qualcomm senior vice president Alex Catusian is actively negotiating with Nintendo and Sony to develop hardware that will allow the companies to beat competitors that currently dominate the market, according to several Western publications.
For example, Qualcomm may partner with Sony to develop and launch exclusive mobile games optimized for the Snapdragon platform. And for this company, in fact, cooperation of this kind is extremely beneficial, because Qualcomm has insane experience working on hardware of various platforms.
For example, the Adreno 740 GPU that comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is currently the fastest GPU for Android smartphones.
