Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon does not focus the game on exploration but rather on character customization.
FromSoftware is known for games like Dark Souls or Elden Ring – it’s easy to forget that the game company is currently working on “Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon”, which is scheduled for release in August.
Game director Masaru Yamamura announced in an interview with RuliWeb that there had been discussions in the team about giving the game a new playstyle. However, they ultimately decided against going for exploration like in Elden Ring.
The special thing about the series is to adjust your character’s movement and see how the gameplay changes as a result.
“In that regard, we felt that the exploration aspect of Armored Core’s gameplay didn’t sit well with it. This led us to the conclusion that Armored Core 6 would be more of a mission-based experience.”
Nonetheless, the game will feature large areas that will also unfold on multiple levels at altitude.
“You’ll still find the same type of dynamic movement on a three-dimensional map with multiple elevation changes. We hope you like this aspect. I think moving around and exploring the nooks and crannies of a well-designed map will be a different kind of fun,” says Yamamura.
Even though the game won’t be a Souls-like game, players can look forward to dynamic boss battles and other challenges.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be available on August 25th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
