The captain of Metallist 1925 Artem Gabelok commented on the draw with Dynamo Kyiv (1:1) in the 30th round of the Ukrainian Premier League. This result allowed the Kharkiv team to finish outside the zone of play-offs, while maintaining a place in the elite.
We had a big responsibility before the game. Everyone understood that we needed to score at least one point. The whole week before the meeting with Dynamo was tense. The result weighed on us. But my partners are great, they prepared correctly for this fight, and this affected the final result.
– Dynamo scored from the penalty spot, creating almost nothing from the game. Did your hands drop after that?
– We understood that you can always win back one ball. Nobody was particularly worried. All the guys are great.
– Do you remember the moment with Dyachuk’s red card?
– I think that Ostrovsky was the first on the ball. The opponent’s defender knocked him down. But our player ran one on one with Bushchan. We were given so many similar red cards this season… We are already used to playing in the minority.
– Was it unusual for the most part?
Most of the time it’s unusual. We have 5 red cards this season. Dynamo players were nervous during the game because of this. I understand them, but what can you do. We’ve been playing like this all season.
– Artem, can your goal at the end of the first half be called golden?
– Random. He closed his eyes and punched. Ostrovsky gave me the exact pass. Thanks to him.
– This is your only second ball of the season …
– I think that it is important not to score often, but to score on time. Glad to score, help the team.
