Square Enix is said to be “slightly panicking” over weak Final Fantasy XVI pre-orders.
Imran Khan reports that Square Enix is ”slightly panicking” because Final Fantasy XVI pre-orders are below Final Fantasy XV.
“I mention this because I’ve recently heard that Square Enix is slightly panicking about Final Fantasy XVI’s pre-order numbers, which lag behind FFXV’s even considering the smaller number of launch platforms.”
“Admittedly, these are pre-order numbers and are usually only useful for measuring guaranteed first day sales (as opposed to potential first day sales), so the actual number could blow anyone away. But with the current numbers, I’m wondering if they want to remind people that there’s the next chapter in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy and give it more marketing time than they planned.”
“The initial sales of Remake were pretty good, but they fell off faster than Square Enix seemed to expect, so I imagine they really want Rebirth to sell as well as possible. Of course they want to, but I can imagine that they are really hoping for an increase in sales.”
