Brazilian federal deputy Ricardo Aires introduced a bill on betting ban in bookmakers for some statistical and individual indicators of matches.
We are talking about offers of bets on yellow and red cards, corners, fouls and other similar markets. The purpose of the bill is to minimize the possibilities for organizing match-fixing.
The document proposes to allow only bets on the main outcomes, as well as varieties of totals and odds.
The bill comes amid a massive investigation into match-fixing in Brazilian football. Several disqualifications have been previously reported. In particular, the Brazilian football player Nicolas Farias was disqualified for 2 years due to the intentional receipt of a yellow card.
Brazil has not yet developed rules for regulating the betting sector. Bookmakers continue to work quietly in the country and do not pay any taxes to the state treasury.
