Rukh head coach Vitaly Ponomarev shared his impressions of the draw in the match against Oleksandriya (0:0) and spoke about the prospects of the Yellow-Blacks in the future.
“We have completed our main task. This was the most important thing at this stage. I thank the guys for this game and for the fact that this young team was able to get out of this situation and stay in the Premier League. For them, this is a great experience. Thanks also to Alexandria, a good team, it is clear that they are also just under construction. I think that with such a coaching staff and selection of players, they will succeed.
Next, you need to look at which way to build a team to choose. You can now buy relatively good players, achieve some result – take 7th, 6th, 5th place, and tomorrow have nothing. And it is possible to build a team for the future on the basis of the young guys that we have today. Of course, reinforcements are needed. But this year, which the players spent, I repeat, it is a very serious experience for them. They got out of a difficult situation. It may even be good from a psychological point of view that such a situation has developed for them. Because not every experienced player can get out of this situation, not to mention the young ones. But our vector is for our young players to play. They are young today – in a year they will already be a little more experienced. And I think that with this team you can achieve goals.
Today I entered the locker room, where the players’ shirts with their names hung. A year ago, most of them were representatives of the U-19 team. With the exception of Pankiv, Dovgy, Mysyk, a few more, as well as legionnaires. All the rest are young players.
Of course, we will try Kvasnitsa and other young players in the main team. In addition, those performers who held this championship are already the players of the main team. For example, today there were 7 people in the base, who last year were in the U-19, well, plus Kvasnitsa, and there were several more in the reserve. It is clear that we want to play successfully again in the UEFA Youth League, so the players who will be eligible to play by age in this competition will play there. I would like to balance this team that we have. Of course, some reinforcement is needed for this. But once again I repeat, this team can achieve good goals.”
