As part of the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft wants to focus on meaningful trailers and gameplay. The focus on games in the upcoming 12-month period has also been thrown overboard.
There will be some game previews and reveals in the coming days. The Summer Game Fest takes place on Thursday before Microsoft hosts an Xbox Showcase on Sunday.
Microsoft’s show is set to feature meaningful material, Xbox VP of Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg announced in response to a follower’s enquiry. That said, trailers that only consist of CG material need not be feared, which he was explicitly referring to the games from first-party studios.
“None of our first-party games on the show are full CG trailers,” Greenberg said. “Everything is either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics. Each of our trailers will be captioned so hopefully it’s clear for our fans.”
Not just games for the next 12 months
Elsewhere, Greenberg worried for the confirmation, that this year’s Xbox Games Showcase will not be limited to games that will be released in the next twelve months. This means that more far-reaching plans are apparently presented.
After many gamers complained about the lack of new releases from first-party studios over the past year, the Redmond-based company appears to be taking a broader look at what’s in the works within the company for Xbox.
The Xbox Games Showcase will take place on June 11, 2023. It’s next Sunday. The broadcast will start at 7 p.m. based on Central European Time. Immediately following the Xbox presentation, there will be a Direct Showcase for “Starfield”, in which only Bethesda’s exclusive game will be presented. The title has been since the publisher’s takeover no longer planned for the PS5.
