The gaming world only knew one topic last month: the new Zelda game for the Nintendo Switch. But for everyone who prefers to gamble with their iPhone, there was big and above all good news last month.
While a new Apple Arcade title usually appears weekly, in May there were 20 at once. These include high-quality classics as well as completely new titles. So we left Hyrule for a short while in the direction of the App Store and are telling you here which new iOS games deserve the most attention in May 2023.
Platz 5: TMNT Splintered Fate (Apple Arcade)
Category: Turtles meets Hades
Developer: Viacom International Inc.
Apple: Download TMNT Splintered Fate on the App Store
What’s better than a Turtles game? A Turtles game based heavily on the rogue-like hit Hades. Something like this must have been the train of thought for the developer of “TMNT Splintered Fate”. At every corner you can tell which game was the inspiration here, which is by no means a bad thing with such a source of inspiration. It doesn’t matter whether it’s game mechanics, level design or many other elements, you can tell that big “Hades” fans were at work here. As is often the case with Turtles games, the story and dialogue are more of a means to an end, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that the game itself is very solid. As is typical of the genre, you are thrown into randomly generated levels and must avoid biting the virtual grass at all costs, otherwise you will have to start the run all over again. It’s best to play on an iPad rather than an iPhone for the sake of clarity, but Apple Arcade subscribers who are familiar with the genre should definitely enjoy this one.
