A new gameplay trailer reveals actor Jason Isaacs as an antagonist in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Larian Studios today revealed a second antagonist in Baldur’s Gate 3 at Summer Game Fest. The highly anticipated role-playing game is coming to PlayStation 5, PC and Mac on August 31st. For Xbox Series X | S, the game should also appear after the end of a console exclusive.
Following the recent disappearance of Duke Ravengard, the city of Baldur’s Gate has turned to aspiring constructor Lord Enver Gortash, who has partnered with the Steel Watchers to create magical Clockwork Warriors to protect the city. As the newly appointed protector of Baldur’s Gate, Gortash is one of the most powerful figures within the city walls.
Lord Enver Gortash is played by award-winning actor Jason Isaacs, known for roles such as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series and Captain Hook in Peter Pan (2003).
Upon arriving in the titular city of Baldur’s Gate, players find themselves in the midst of a dangerous power struggle, as many factions and powers vie for political control of this complex city organism, where it is already difficult to discern friend from foe .
Isaac’s acting skills bring additional depth to the characters players will encounter in Baldur’s Gate. Players must contend with the main antagonist as they venture into the moral gray lanes and port areas of the game’s sprawling city.
Isaacs brought his decades of experience acting villains to the recording booth, where he honed his lines between takes, adding depth and spice to the character of Gortash.
“It was exciting to join the Baldur’s Gate universe, but I fear that the great Lord Enver Gortash will be mischaracterized as a villain. In a brutal world of betrayal and carnage, he’s learned to lie better and be the first to strike. The great joy of voicing him – aside from the obvious honor of looking so glorious – was that the creative team and I were free to play freely enough to find ways to enjoy the journey and get players to want him even more to hate!” Isaac says of his role.
