The long-awaited System Shock (2023) was released on May 30 on PC, and developers from Nightdive Studios already contemplating the future of the series. Ideas for the next project included a regular remake of System Shock 2 and strategy in the style of XCOM.
According to the head of Nightdive Stephen Kick, the upcoming Enhanced Edition of Part 2, System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, may give developers some time to experiment before working on a full remake. This means that the team can explore the System Shock universe in different genres.
Such a game (XCOM style) would take place before the events of the first System Shock, with the player taking on the role of the resistance at Citadel Station, presumably the same people whose audio recordings are collected in the original game. According to Kik, this concept would be very cool.
But this is not a guarantee that Nightdive will work on just such a game. Recall that in the future, developers should release not only System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, but also console versions of the remake of the first System Shock. The novelty, by the way, has already brought Nightdive about $ 3 million.
