Interested in strategy in the Star Trek universe? Then you should keep an eye on Star Trek: Infinite, announced by Paradox Interactive during Summer Game Fest.
Star Trek: Infinite is developed by Nimble Giant Entertainment under license from Paramount and is published by Paradox Interactive. The Argentinian studio already has a few games under its belt, including Hellbound and Master of Orion: Conqer the Stars – it’s not a huge studio, but it’s by no means a novice either. The game takes place a few decades before Star Trek: The Next Generation and is scheduled to be released for PC and MAC in autumn 2023.
In Star Trek: Infinite you take command of one of the four great powers in the galaxy: the United Federation of Planets, the Romulan Star Empire, the Cardassian Union or the Klingon Empire. Each of them has individual characteristics, stories, quests and much more to customize the gameplay. With tough choices and unique gameplay, this game aims to create an opportunity to experience a beloved franchise in a new way while connecting with other empires and worlds.
“We are honored to bring one of the entertainment industry’s most iconic objects to life for our players and the multi-generational Star Trek fan base,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. “We know how much this franchise means to fans around the world, and we’re working closely with Nimble Giant and Paramount Consumer Products to create a faithful and compelling game that lives up to their expectations.”
There are not many details about the game so far, a more extensive presentation is to take place on June 16th, i.e. on Captain Picard Day. Until then, enjoy the slightly Borg-heavy trailer.
