Developer The Astronauts has been working on the shooter Witchfire for quite some time – and since yesterday evening it finally has a release date, at least as far as Early Access is concerned.
The upcoming shooter Witchfire from the development studio The Astronauts also had an appearance at the Summer Game Fest yesterday evening – and it finally brought a release date with it. However, this is not yet the release date of the finished full version, but rather the start of Early Access.
The new fantasy shooter, created by previous developers of Painkiller, Bulletstorm or The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, should therefore be available from September 20, 2023. Early Access will then start on PC via the Epic Games Store.
In the past few months, The Astronauts had repeatedly announced some new snippets of information about the title and in this respect worked towards the date that has now been confirmed. In the roguelike shooter you go on a hunt for a powerful witch. At numerous fantasy locations you can let off steam with an arsenal of weapons inspired by magic and conventional weapons alike. The gameplay is described as a mix of Destiny and the classic shooters of the studio’s earlier days.
From a technical point of view, it was also recently confirmed that Witchfire will support DLSS 3 if you use an NVIDIA RTX 40 series graphics card.
