It’s time for Intel and AMD to move, because ARM-based solutions will force them out of the market
The first benchmark results for the new Apple M2 Ultra chip have appeared on the Geekbench website, allowing you to take a closer look at the improvement in the performance of the central bank. The high-end chip will be available in the new Mac Studio and Mac Pro models starting next week.
There is some discrepancy in results at this point, but Macs with the M2 Ultra chip have single-core and multi-core scores up to about 2000 and 28000, respectively. As expected, these scores confirm that the M2 Ultra chip delivers 20% more CPU performance compared to the M1 Ultra chip.
To understand the power level against the background of competitors from the x86 solutions camp, below we present the results of the top processor from Intel Core i9-13900K and from AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
The results are very similar and we can state the fact that Apple caught up with the market leaders in just a few years.
Interestingly, the model with an impressive amount of 192 GB of RAM passed the tests, this amount is exactly enough for any work tasks for years to come.
More interestingly, the results show that the overall processor performance of the new Mac Pro should be about twice as fast as the fastest Intel-based Mac Pro with a 28-core Xeon W processor.
This result is even more impressive given that the new Mac Pro starts at $6,999, while the 28-core Intel model starts at $12,999, almost double the price.
During its WWDC keynote, Apple said the new Mac Pro is three times faster than the Intel-based model, but only for selected “real-world professional workflows like video transcoding and 3D modeling.”
The main reason for considering the Mac Pro over the Mac Studio is the six available PCIe desktop expansion slots. Otherwise, customers should consider Mac Studio, as it can be purchased bundled with the M2 Ultra for $3,000 less than the Mac Pro.
The new Mac Studio and Mac Pro are now available to order. Customers will begin receiving their first orders on Tuesday, June 13th.
If, unfortunately, not everything is as good with the headset as we would like, then with computers it is definitely moving in the right direction, such results are amazing and the company’s position in the computer market will significantly increase after this release.
