All good things come to an end, and for Bryan Cranston, the end of his acting career could come by 2026. Speaking to British GQ about the future, Cranston said he plans to retire from acting (for a limited time) and move to France in the coming years.
“I want to have this experience. I want to go on day trips, light a fire in the fireplace and drink wine with new friends, not read scripts,” explains Cranston. “It won’t be like, ‘Oh, I’ll read it and see what I’m going to do.’ No, it’s a pause. This is a stop.”
Cranston says he plans to close his production company, Moonshot Entertainment, and put his acting career on hold for at least six months. He’s in his 70s and wants to enjoy life without Hollywood hovering over his shoulder.
“I want to change the paradigm once again,” Cranston said. “The last 24 years of Robin [Дирден] lived her life holding on to my tail. She was in the black, she was the wife of a celebrity. She had to turn around and adjust her life based on mine. She benefits greatly from this, but we are not indifferent. I want to straighten it out. She deserves it.”
Cranston, best known for playing Hal Wilerson in Malcolm in the Middle and Walter White in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, speaks for itself. Some actors prefer work to leisure. However, in Cranston’s case, he’d like to enjoy his golden years in comfort, surrounded by family, friends and wine, without being bound by Hollywood and its demands.
