The South Korean portal MTN reports that the Chinese corporation Tencent from May 18 to May 22 conducted a closed test of the MMORPG Black Desert. The game has not yet been released in China, although it has been striving to enter the Chinese market for more than a year. Back in 2017, Pearl Abyss entered into an agreement with Snail Games to publish the game, but in 2021 the agreement was terminated and a new one was signed with Tencent.
China has a strict gaming policy. All games in the country are licensed by the regulatory authority, and the publisher must be a Chinese company. In addition, there is a limit on the number of games published per year, so it is not known whether Tencent will self-publish the game or transfer the rights to another Chinese company.
Update “Land of Morning” for MMORPG Black Desert
Crimson Desert will be shown to a wide audience in July. Since the release of the game is scheduled for the second half of 2023, it can be assumed that the release of the game will be the beginning of the advertising campaign for the game. Pearl Abyss promised to talk about the game back in May 2022, but the show of the game was repeatedly postponed, as was the release date of the game itself.
