Recall that Viewfinder was officially presented with a gameplay trailer as part of The Game Awards 2022 at the end of 2022 and until recently was expected to premiere in 2023. The game is positioned as a temporary console exclusive to the PlayStation.
As it became known, Viewfinder will go on sale on July 18 this year in versions only for PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5. The trailer dedicated to the announcement demonstrates the gameplay and announces the release of the demo on the Japanese console. On the PC, the game was allowed to be tested as part of the April puzzle festival.
The main feature of the Viewfinder is its central mechanics – the instant camera available to the player allows you to take pictures that can transform the reality around. The user can step inside the photo and bring the images to life by adding them to the real world to solve puzzles.
In addition to photos, Viewfinder will bring paintings, sketches, screenshots from 8-bit era games, and postcards to life. The gamer will have to uncover the secrets and reasons for the existence of the world and learn the freedom of creativity. The game has been compared to The Witness and the unreleased F-Stop prequel to Portal.
