While the second part has just been released, Netflix announces that an Extraction / Tyler Rake 3 is already in production. The opportunity to see again Chris Hemsworth, well known for playing Thor in the MCU, playing John Wick for a new mission.
Tyler Rake, hen with the golden eggs of Netflix?
Like every year, Netflix held an event to unveil the next content to come on the streaming platform. During this 2023 edition of Tudum, we were able to discover the first images of the live-action series adaptation of One Piece, a trailer for the first part of season 3 of The Witcher, the last with Henry Cavill, or yet another teaser for Squid Game Season 2. Among all these series, Netflix also took the opportunity to talk about its upcoming movies.
In the lot, we learn that the feature film series Tyler Rake, or better known in the United States as Extraction, will be entitled to a third installment which is already in development. A news that is surprising to many because Tyler Rake 2 has barely been available on Netflix for a few days, June 16 to be precise. If the streaming platform decides to start work on an additional sequel, we can therefore deduce that they are satisfied with the result, despite the first audience.
When Thor meets John Wick?
As a reminder, Tyler Rake, or Extraction in its American name, is an action film series featuring the Australian special forces agent of the same name played by Chris Hemsworth. While in the first film the latter succeeds in resolving differences between Bangladesh and India over drug cases, the second part takes him to extricate the family of a Georgian godfather from prison. Behind the camera, Sam Hargrave takes on the role of director on the first two opuses, while in production we find Anthony Russo and Joe Russo on the screenplay. As you will have understood, these are the Russo brothers who have worked a lot on the MCU, in particular the last two Avengers.
For his frantic action, Tyler Rake is often referred to as Netflix’s John Wick. Besides, the platform is pleased with the success of the first episode which recorded more than 236 million hours viewed at its launch, making it one of the most successful feature films on the platform. It is therefore without too many surprises that we understand that a third part is already in the works while the second has just been released. In any case, we will have to be patient, because three years separate the first two films, and we can surely expect a similar gap until the release of Tyler Rake 3.
