Ed Boon is no stranger to trolling players on social media, but his latest posts about Mortal Kombat 1 leave readers wondering if there’s some truth in them or if he’s just having a good time. Boon spent most of 2023 posting about what NetherRealm has in store for the latest Mortal Kombat game, who could appear in it, and even the future of Injustice. As Mortal Kombat 1 is the second reboot in the franchise’s history, one of its creators is using content and concepts from its roughly 30-year history to challenge curious gamers.
While many veterans of the series will return, the new era has brought some drastic character changes, such as Scorpion and Sub-Zero being brothers. The game will also feature cameo fighters that players can select before a match to assist during the fight, whether it’s adding to a combo attack or performing their own Fatalities.
It looks like NetherRealm still has a lot to keep under wraps at the moment, and Boone has decided to use that in a new Twitter game called “Truth or Trolling.” On the Boon social network asked ten questions aboutwhich could be part of Mortal Kombat 1 when it comes out, and had to decide if he was telling the truth or joking:
MK1 will have an additional ninja fighter in new colors (49.3% do not believe this); Sujinko from Mortal Kombat: Deception will be one of the cameo fighters (64.6 believe it); Animality from Mortal Kombat 3 will return in the game (50.5% believe it) Wrestler Lou Ferrigno, who played in the Incredible Hulk series in 1977, will appear in MK1 (68.9% do not believe it); Fighter “Meat” from MK4 will be one of the strongest among cameo fighters (52.8% do not believe in this); Cameo fighters will be able to perform “brutality” (85.9% believe it); There will be a post-credits scene (90.5% believe this); The Puzzle Kombat mini-game will return (65.3% don’t believe it); There will be no fighters with four legs in the game (64.7% do not believe this); The Test Your Sight mini-game will return (69.6% believe it).
