In January, a press report claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, slated to launch in the first quarter of 2024, would only include two models – Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Reportedly, Samsung would have decided not to launch the Galaxy S24+. However, recent information suggests that this will not be true, and the S24 series, like the S23 series, will include vanilla, Plus and Ultra models.
Codenames “Muse” suggest three models
The information comes from SamMobile and GalaxyClub websites, which claim that the Galaxy S24 series has been codenamed “Muse” by Samsung. There are three different codenames for the smartphones – Muse 1, Muse 2 and Muse 3 – which suggests that the S24 lineup will include a Plus version.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is codenamed Muse 3, so it’s possible that the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will be called Muse 1 and Muse 2 respectively. The sources also reiterated that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature a 5x optical zoom telephoto camera, replacing the 3x telephoto unit present in the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Variable zoom and more news on the way
Back in April, we heard that Samsung would ditch the S24 Ultra’s 3x telephoto in favor of a single foldable variable telephoto with 3-10x zoom. It will be necessary to wait for more evidence to confirm this information. With the launch of the S24 series set to be over six months away, it’s to be expected that more details on the product lineup will be released in the coming months.
