The realme brand conducted a study among Russians interested in mobile devices and technologies in order to find out what games they prefer. As it turned out, the leading positions are occupied by shooters and puzzles, which are most often played on mobile devices. A total of 1,200 respondents over the age of 18 took part in the survey.
Games retain their status as one of the most common types of leisure activities among lovers of mobile devices and technology. The vast majority of respondents (95.4%) play video games, and almost two-thirds (66.6%) do it daily, 21% – several times a week, and only 3.4% play only a few times a year.
Most often for games, users use mobile devices (68%), which are always at hand, and PCs (25%). At the same time, game consoles turned out to be less popular: only 2.4%, 1.6% and 0.4% of respondents, respectively, choose the PlayStation, XBox and Nintendo as their main gaming device.
A powerful processor, a large amount of RAM and a capacious battery are the most important characteristics of a gaming smartphone. In addition, according to the respondents, the device should have an efficient cooling system (41%), a large amount and high speed of internal memory (34%) and screen quality (19%) – diagonal, resolution and clock frequency. Good sound for gaming is important for only 3.5% of users, and for only 2%, the ergonomics of the case is decisive.
Attitude towards accessories is ambiguous. Almost half of the survey participants (49%) believe that it is impossible to play without headphones. The same number of respondents believe that accessories are not needed at all. And only 2% use a gamepad.
At the same time, among those who choose a realme smartphone for the game, a quarter prefer to play on smartphones of the brand’s numbered series. In addition, the GT-series (19%) and C-series (17.6%) are popular. The Narzo series is chosen by only 4% of owners, and another 24% use other devices. At the same time, realme GT owners most often use the game mode available on these smartphones in order for the gadget to work more smoothly and quickly.
The favorite genre among Russian gamers turned out to be shooters or “shooters”, which are played by every second user. Along with them, players also choose puzzles and strategies (36% and 34% respectively). They are followed in popularity by arcades (29%), racing (27%), simulations (27%) and RPGs (23%). Much fewer users prefer casual games (14%), fighting games (13%) and MOBA (12%).
For survey participants, multiplayer games are much more interesting than single-player games: if 36% usually play alone, then 64% of respondents are ready to compete or team up with friends and other players.
It is noteworthy that the majority of gamers (68%) prefer not only to play games, but also to study content related to this area. 40% of them watch let’s plays and streams, 34% follow gaming bloggers, a quarter (25%) read and watch reviews from industry media, and 8% are into fanfiction.
