As it became known to Aroged, the central defender Bohdan Veklyak became the next newcomer to Karpaty. The 23-year-old native of Zhydachiv was bound by a contract with Metallurg until the end of this year, but the parties managed to agree on the transfer of the player to the Green-White camp already in the off-season.
In the last season of the First League, Vekljak played 8 matches for Metalurh and scored 1 goal – just against Karpaty on their field. Then Metallurg won with a score of 1:0 and outstripped the competitor in the fight for the play-off zone for the right to play in the Premier League.
Previously, Veklyak played for Skala U19, Karpaty youth team (in 2018-2019), Gornyak-Sport, Olimpik and Mynay.
Recall that this summer Karpaty has already added two players who specialize in playing in the center of defense: Bogdan Porokh was loaned from Metalist, and Tymofiy Sukhar moved from Skoruk to the Lviv club as a free agent (his main position is extreme defender, however, in a number of matches last season, the football player acted as a center back).
According to the results of the last championship, Karpaty took fifth place in the First League. In June, Miron Markevich was appointed head coach of the team.
