A new game trial version has been unlocked on the PlayStation Store. This allows players to get a taste of Striking Distance’s debut project for an hour.
PlayStation Plus Premium features include play trials, which allow subscribers to try select games. Sometimes more and sometimes fewer free hours are offered.
The latest trial of this kind is only one hour of play time. This allows players who have not yet come into contact with “The Callisto Protocol” to plunge into the horror shooter and find out what awaits the protagonist Jacob Lee as he makes his way through the Dangers of the galactic prison on the Jovian moon Callisto.

After the play trial ends, players can choose to purchase the title directly from PlayStation Store. However, this is currently not recommended, since “The Callisto Protocol” is currently listed with the standard price of 69.99 euros. Until yesterday, only 34.99 euros were due as part of a sale. It can be assumed that further offers of this type will follow.
Players can currently get away with it even cheaper on Amazon. “The Callisto Protocol” is published there listed in the Day One Edition for 25.63 euros*.
The trial could be helpful again to further boost sales. Striking Distance’s debut reportedly fell short of its sales targets after last year’s release, prompting publisher Krafton’s investors to lower their price targets.
The meta score of only 69 was not necessarily sales-promoting. The players rated “The Callisto Protocol” in a similar way.

The new Play Trial for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers joins a selection of other trials, some shorter, some longer. We have listed some examples below.

The new additions to PS Plus Extra and Premium are expected to be unveiled next Wednesday and unlocked on Tuesday of the following week.
