The biggest Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit recently switched to NSFW with the explanation that the game it’s focused on is mature, full of nudity and gore. However, Reddit allegedly required the subreddit’s mods to quickly revert the changes. Mods have not complied, and users are now posting nude images of in-game characters in protest to show why the subreddit deserves NSFW status.
Since May, Reddit has been at war with its users and subreddits as the company restricts third-party apps from accessing the site’s backend or API. And as part of this ongoing backlash, some subreddits have switched to NSFW. This designation is intended primarily for pornographic subreddits and blocks ads from appearing, but also allows users to freely post nudity and more adult content. Some mods and subreddits have used the designation to strike back at Reddit and its despised CEO. Now the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit has wandered into this disassembly.
According to a post by moderator Tabnam on July 5, the decision to subreddit Cyberpunk 2077 NSFW was made because the game “is an 18+ game” and is now because mods “didn’t think of changing it until recently”. Tabnam added that this subreddit should already be NSFW. This decision obviously didn’t sit well with Reddit.
The Code of Conduct mod sent us a message demanding that we switch back because ‘[Ваши пользователи]are probably confused by all the NSFW content you see’.
