The lack of supplied displays is becoming a major problem in the production of the Apple Vision Pro AR headset. One of the reasons for the low production of the device is the weak production from Sony, which is the sole supplier of displays for the Vision Pro – the annual production capacity of two 4K microLED panels does not exceed one million units. Moreover, the head of the Sony division expressed doubts about the increase in the created displays due to the lack of profitability and any prospects.
To increase production and reduce the cost of components, Apple will have to attract more partners. So far, however, Sony remains the only reliable supplier, despite the fact that there have already been attempts to attract other companies, delays in production at LG and Samsung only exacerbate the situation.
While Sony does not show readiness to increase its production due to the “niche” of the market and lack of profit. Perhaps in the future the situation will change, but at the moment Apple Vision Pro glasses remain available only in small quantities and only on pre-orders.
