Film company Warner Bros. Pictures released the official trailer for the upcoming musical comedy “Willy Wonka», prequel novel «Charlie and the Chocolate Factory» Roald Dahl. The role of the legendary eccentric confectioner in it is played by Timothée Chalamet (“Interstellar», «call me by your name», «A handsome boy»).
Mr. Wonka has already been played on the big screen by two actors: Gene Wilder in the film adaptation ofWilly Wonka and the Chocolate Factory» 1971 and Johnny Depp in the Tim Burton film «Charlie and the Chocolate Factory“. Timothee Chalamet got the role of young Willy Wonka, who is just starting his career as a pastry chef. The film also stars Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant and Keegan-Michael Kay.
Willy Wonka’s budget is reported to be $125 million, which is a lot considering the risks – the creators are going to tell the story of the canonical hero, written without the participation of his creator.
The film will hit theaters on December 15, 2023.
