When launching a role-playing game, there are always players who know exactly which class they will play. For others, it is not necessarily obvious and we sometimes spend a lot of time making a choice. As if to reach out to them and come to their aid, Adam Smith, lead writer at Larian Studios, objectively revealed the best class in the game which is, surprisingly, not his favorite!
Baldur’s Gate 3 is doing well: the proof, it has advanced its release date!
The least we can say is that we are clever within the Larian Studios teams. If we expected to discover their ambitious Baldur’s Gate III at the very end of August (the 31st, more precisely), there have been some big changes. As announced recently, the developers have enough confidence in the state of their project to advance the release by several days: on PC, this will finally be done from August 3rd. Conversely, for players PS5the release is now scheduled for September 6, when Starfield comes out, exclusively on Xbox consoles. A nice marketing coup which will see two polarized visions of role-playing games clash: on the one hand, the very old side of heroic fantasy and, on the other, the futuristic aspect of science fiction.
Thus, whether on PlayStation or Xbox, each player will be entitled to his dose of RPG. On our side, we recently had it since we were able to discover new excerpts and try out game sequences during a preview organized by the development studio. If Act 1 Early Access had left us a bit unsatisfied — at the time and at this stage of development, we had the score of 14/20 —, it has now appeared to us as a serious candidate for the title of best game of the year!

Now, the objective for the developers will be to maintain this good impression until the end and to be present in the media. On this point, we don’t worry too much about Larian since Baldur’s Gate III already manages quite well to get people talking about him, whether it’s about the maximum difficulty of the adventure or, in a lighter way, on his romances with sometimes… very singular customs. Today, the main screenwriter of the project shared information of public utility, the answer to one of the questions that burns the lips of more than one player!
No matter the game: if it offers an adventure with a class system, we can be convinced that the number of Google searches aimed at identifying the best character class will skyrocket. Even more so when faced with a diversity such as that found in Baldur’s Gate III ! To save players time, the game’s lead scriptwriter has revealed that in his opinion, the Monk class trumps all others.. Very fast, capable of deflecting ranged attacks, endowed with good stealth and capable of inflicting heavy damage, the Monk is a safe bet for Adam Smith. However, in terms of role play, it is difficult for him to compete against the Paladin who embodies justice and righteousness, while being, by the way, the preferred class of the Larian Studios executive.
