Google has finally announced that Chat will receive a resource that has been requested by its users: the possibility of inserting hyperlinks in messages. The novelty is available in the app on Android devices and in the web version.
To use it, the user needs to select the message excerpt and click on the chain/clip icon on toolbar, in the formatting options field, at the bottom of the typing field. For Windows/ChromeOS users, you can use shortcut Ctrl+K and Command+K on macOS before entering the desired URL.
Users can copy hyperlinks from other Google apps such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Before being sent, Google Chat show a thumbnail preview which will appear along with the URL.
Google Chat is geared towards business, but a general user version of the app is also available. Said update is available to all Google Workspace users and personal accounts.
