The US space agency has found an unusual way to promote the Artemis program, which plans to put people back on the moon. NASA decided to collaborate with Metallica.
NASA has published a video dedicated to the unmanned launch of Artemis-1 and the Artemis-2 mission, during which a crew of four will fly around the moon. The soundtrack for the video was the composition Fuel from Metallica.
Musicians advertised crossover on twitter. Between the Artemis program and Metallica, the performers explain, there is something in common: Fuel (fuel) and fire. At the same time, the musicians invited the fans to learn more about the Artemis-2 mission.
The launch of Artemis-2 is scheduled for the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. Astronaut training has already begun, it will take about a year and a half.
If everything goes well, then as part of the next mission, Artemis-3, people will again visit the moon. The launch of Artemis-3 is tentatively scheduled for 2025, but may be shifted to a later date.
For a flight to the moon, it is planned to use the Starship rocket – it will act as a lunar module. As of July 2023, Starship has not completed a single successful flight.
