The US House of Representatives Oversight Committee will meet on July 26 to discuss the topic of UFOs.
The hearing will be chaired by Republican Party representatives Anna Paulina Luna of Florida and Tim Burchett of Tennessee, Gizmodo reports. The specific topic has not yet been revealed, but Burchett posted a tweet with a reference to Fox Mulder from the cult X-Files series.

Interest in UFOs has been rekindled in the US by David Grush, a former counterintelligence official, who said the US government is hiding evidence in the form of crashed aircraft that allegedly were not made on Earth. According to Grush, the government finances a lot of “black” secret programs.
The comments of future participants in the UFO hearing vary in tone. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy joked:
If a UFO were found, the Department of Defense would definitely report it to the government. They would probably demand more money.
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, on the other hand, advised taking the matter “seriously.”
